You will never use cling wrap again after trying this
A PASSION for preserving the environment has inspired Mackay mother Loren Vanzella, 56, to launch her own unique business - BeeGood Wax Wraps.
Born and raised on an orchard farm in NSW, Mrs Vanzella said she was always interested in living sustainably and tried to avoid plastic whenever she could.
Her wax wraps do exactly that - replace cling wrap in the kitchen.
"They are made from local beeswax, pure jojoba oil and tree resin and the mixture is melted down and painted on to 100 per cent cotton," Mrs Vanzella said.
"They are eco-friendly and compostable and can last for about two years, so you get hundreds of uses out of them.
"It's the perfect way to teach your kids how to be sustainable and reduce the overuse of plastic."
Business has grown quickly for Mrs Vanzella; she now has 12 stockists and a growing online presence.
The BeeGood Wax Wraps are sent out each week to customers from overseas and around Australia.
"I get a lot of return customers and I've had a lot of interest recently from schools and catering companies," Mrs Vanzella said.
"The wraps are eco-friendly and they are great for keeping fruit and vegetables fresh for days."
In the future, Mrs Vanzella would like to expand her range of stockists and increase online sales.
At the moment she creates hundreds of wax wraps each week with her husband and two children.
"It's a family business and I love it," Mrs Vanzella said.
"I'd like to drop my part-time job and focus on this business full-time eventually."
