Chance to submit a manuscript to publishers

ARE you an author waiting for that big break?

Well this could be your chance.

Associate publisher Jo Butler (Fourth Estate) from Harper Collins Publishers Australia will attend the Bundaberg writers' festival, WriteFest, on May 18 and conduct publisher/writer interviews.

Writers can pitch their manuscript to publishers for consideration.

WriteFest organiser Cherie Curtis said authors need to submit the first 50 pages (in industry-standard format) of their manuscript, together with a two-page single-line-spaced synopsis and covering letter addressed to either editor outlining details of writing experience and publishing history (if any).

"Submissions must be from a completed manuscript ready for submission to a publisher - first drafts are not acceptable," Ms Curtis said.

The publisher will select those writers she will interview, and those writers must attend WriteFest, she said.
