Writefest workshops in Bundaberg offer priceless advice

BUDDING writers from across the country have travelled to Bundaberg to take part in tailored writing workshops, hosted by industry professionals and held as part of this year's Writefest.

Writefest organiser Sandy Curtis said bringing industry professionals to a regional area was a unique and extremely valuable opportunity for upcoming writers looking to break into the industry.

"It is priceless," she said.

"We had one lady come from Sydney and others from all over the state.

"I know there are a lot of online writing courses today but what people don't realise is actually speaking to an industry professional and talking to them about your own writing - that's priceless.

"You don't get too many opportunities to talk to an editor, an agent or authors who are multi-published."

Workshops were held on Saturday and Ms Curtis said presenters offered practical, constructive advice.

"They've all been so generous," she said.
