
Driver trapped after car plunges off bridge
A WOMAN has been flown to Cairns Hospital with serious injuries after her car plunged off a bridge south of Cairns.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the woman, aged in her 20s, had suffered serious pelvic injuries and was being transported to hospital by Rescue 510 helicopter.

Fire crews worked for around an hour to cut the woman from the vehicle after her car crashed through the barrier on the Behana Creek Overflow just after 2pm.
Crews then carried her up the creek bank to the waiting helicopter.
The road remains closed with repairs required to the bridge.
EARLIER: The rescue helicopter is en route to a serious crash where a young woman is trapped inside a car which crashed off a bridge south of Cairns.
Both lanes of the Bruce Highway have been blocked and traffic is being diverted through Aloomba following the crash, which occurred on the Behana Creek Overflow bridge about 2pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the sole occupant of the vehicle was a young woman believed to be aged in her 20s.

She said she remained trapped inside, but was believed to be in a serious condition.
Fire crews are on scene working to cut the woman free.
Motorists are warned to expect delays in the area and delay their travel for about an hour if possible.
A police spokesman said repairs would be also be required to the bridge where the vehicle crashed through.

EARLIER: Emergency services are on the way to a serious traffic crash south of Cairns where a vehicle has reportedly plunged off a bridge.
Members of the public called just after 2pm after the red sedan crashed at the Behana Creek Overflow on the Bruce Highway at Aloomba.
The southbound lane of the highway has been closed.
The incident is believed to be just a single vehicle and the driver is understood to be trapped inside.
