Turnbull’s challenge creates buzz
YESTERDAY Malcolm Turnbull sent the political scene into a buzz and sent journalists across the country into a frenzy.
It doesn't get much more exciting in political reporting than a leadership stoush.
That aside, one has to question how constant leadership spills are of any benefit to anyone other than our political leaders.
The Coalition rubbed their hands with glee as they watched the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd debacle basically hand them an election win.
But you could also question wether we would have Tony Abbott as prime minister if it wasn't for the Labor Party leadership shambles.
At the end of the day, I suppose you have to question if you know you can't win another election with your current leader, what is the point of continuing in power.
While the point of government is to govern the country, you still have to be in government to do it.
It certainly seems gone are the days when we went to the polls, a leader was elected and that was that until next time.
You either perform as leader or you will be out.
