Trump says immigrants from terrorist nations to be barred

REPUBLICAN presidential candidate Donald Trump has vowed to implement "extreme vetting" of immigrants and suspend immigration from regions with a "history of exporting terrorism".

The billionaire also promised to set up a "commission on radical Islam" to uncover jihadist networks.

"We should only admit into this country those who share our values and respect our people," Mr Trump said during a speech in Ohio.

"Our current strategy of nation building and regime change is a proven absolute failure. We have created the vacuums that allow terrorism to grow and thrive."
