Chinese celebrations at the Moncrieff
THE Moncrieff Entertainment Centre is offering residents the opportunity to enjoy the best of Chinese culture ahead of this year's Chinese New Year Celebrations.
Community Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said the A Taste of China event would be held on Friday, February 12 from 6.15pm and would act as a prelude to the exciting entertainment schedule on offer at the official Chinese New Year Celebrations on Saturday, February 13.
"What better way to prepare to welcome in the Chinese New Year than to sample some of the culture's highlights which, of course, include delicious food and drink and traditional entertainment," Cr Peters said.
"Tickets for the A Taste of China experience are just $12 which includes traditional Chinese nibbles, an authentic Chinese beer (or soft drink) and a live acrobatic display from performers direct from our sister city Nanning.
"Guests to the A Taste of China event can then stay on for the free community movie 'The Grandmaster' (Rated M) screening at 7pm."
The Grandmaster is an epic martial arts drama based on the true story of the man who trained Bruce Lee.
"The community movie is free for anyone to attend but for those who would like a little something extra, they can book for the A Taste of China evening and sample the delights of Chinese culture."
Bookings for the A Taste of China evening are essential as tickets are limited.
Contact the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on 4130 4100 to book.
