Thabeban drainage issues to be fixed

WORK to address drainage issues in Thabeban will start this month.

Bundaberg Regional Council roads and drainage spokesman Tony Ricciardi said last year council commissioned an extensive study into identified drainage problems caused by flooding in some streets and allotments in Thabeban.

"Council has considered the consultants report and will implement a staged program to provide an underground system to contain the majority of stormwater flows," he said.

"Council has allocated $550,000 for the initial stage and culverts for this work have been stockpiled on-site off Verdant Siding Rd."

Cr Ricciardi yesterday said the initial work would involve laying of culverts from the Ring Rd retention basin up to and along Verdant Siding Rd.

"This project is anticipated to take about three months to complete and council will endeavour to cause minimal inconvenience to residents and motorists in the area," Cr Ricciardi said.
