Spooky NFL curse goes ‘next level’

The "Madden curse" has been an ongoing theme in the NFL for years and it seems like the popular game is now predicting the future.

Superstar wide receiver Antonio Brown has been the biggest talking point over the past few weeks in the lead up to the next season after completing a blockbuster move from the Pittsburgh Steelers to join the Oakland Raiders.

A picture of his feet that sent fans wild when he showed off the injury that was keeping him on the sidelines.

While many initially thought it was just brutal blistering, it recently came to light the result of the horrific injury was from frostbite after Brown wore incorrect shoes inside a cryotherapy machine.

The "Madden curse" generally hampers the player who graces the cover and strikes down them down the following season.

Brown however enjoyed a successful season with the Steelers, but fans picked up the spooky image on Madden 19 which shows the curse is not only alive and well … it seems to be predicting the future.

One of the engines the game uses is aptly named "Frostbite" and is placed directly underneath Brown, coincidence? We think not.

Fans are convinced the image isn't just an anomaly and believe the curse and the game have now reached predicting the future heights.

Brown's tenure since joining the Raiders has been full of bizarre moments that reached truly weird heights when he threatened to walk away from the game and $44 million after being told the helmet he prefers to wear is no longer allowed to be worn.

Brown on Tuesday lost his fight against the NFL over his old helmet and will be forced to wear an approved one for the season.

"While I disagree with the arbitrator's decision, I'm working on getting back to full health and looking forward to rejoining my teammates on the field. I'm excited about this season appreciate all the concerns about my feet," Brown said in a post on Instagram.

HISTORY OF THE MADDEN CURSE

Since back in 1999, the game has made a habit of striking down whichever player earns the cover graphic.

In total 22 players have graced the cover of the popular video game, only for 16 of them to have injury affected or severe drops in production the following season.

It all began with Garrison Hearst who broke his ankle shortly after being announced as the cover athlete for Madden NFL 99.

Other superstars to have been struck down after earning the games cover include Rob Gronkowski, Adrian Peterson, Drew Brees, Brett Favre and many, many more.

After becoming the Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback, Patrick Mahomes had a blistering season which resulted in him claiming the MVP and then saw him announced as the cover athlete for Madden 20.

Fans are hoping the 23-year-old can break the curse and carry the Chiefs into the Superbowl.
