UPDATE: Golf ball size hail reported near Gin Gin

UPDATE 4.45PM: 

A SEVERE thunderstorm warning remains in place for the Wide Bay Burnett region. 

The Bureau of Meteorology released an update just before 4.30pm predicting damaging winds and large hail stones for places including Bundaberg, Monto, Rosedale, Gin Gin and Miriam over the next several hours. 

Rain and golf ball sized hail has been reported in the Gin Gin area. 

The bureau is expected to release another update at 7.25pm. 

EARLIER: THE Bureau of Meteorology has released a severe thunderstorm warning for the Wide Bay and Burnett.

The warning was issued at 1.26pm predicting damaging winds and large hail stones for areas including Bundaberg, Monto, Gin Gin and Miriam Vale over the next several hours.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should move your car under cover or away from trees, secure loose outdoor items, seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees and beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
