A LONDON photo call for the cast of new Jennifer Lawrence spy thriller Red Sparrow is getting a lot of attention - but not for the reason they'd hoped.

Pictures from the media call show Lawrence flanked by Red Sparrow co-stars Joel Edgerton, Jeremy Irons, Matthias Schoenaerts and director Francis Lawrence, on a balcony of London's Corinthia Hotel.

Notice anything? The UK is still in the middle of winter at the moment, with maximum London temperatures this week hovering around 3-9C.

In short, it's really bloody cold, and Lawrence's male colleagues dressed accordingly, bundled up in shirts, boots, jumpers and warm, buttoned-up overcoats.

And then there was Lawrence, no doubt freezing her arse off in a plunging Versace dress complete with thigh-high split.

Of course, nobody is suggesting Lawrence - an Oscar-winning actor worth an estimated $140 million - was forced to dress the way she did, or was denied access to warmer clothing.

But the contrast between the exposed actor and her rugged up male colleagues became a topic of discussion on social media, who noted the "quietly depressing" double standard at play.

Women in Hollywood certainly have enough hazards to look out for - hello, Harvey Weinstein - but it appears you can now add hypothermia to the list. No wonder Lawrence just announced she's taking a year-long break from acting.
