Qld's Best Job goes into New York hall of fame
QUEENSLAND'S Best Job in the World Campaign has been inducted into the PR Awards Hall of Fame in New York.
The 2009 campaign to appoint a caretaker to the Islands of the Great Barrier Reef saw nearly 35,000 applicants.
It was won by 34-year-old British charity events organiser Ben Southall who embarked on a six month whirlwind of travel, social media, and interview opportunities.
Tourism Events Queensland chief Leanne Coddington said it was an honour for their project to be recognised in the Hall of Fame.
"The Best Job in the World experience has been an extraordinary success story for TEQ and Queensland, showcasing the spectacular tourism experiences of the state's Great Barrier Reef," she said.
