Proctor banned for four matches by Titans

KEVIN Proctor has been banned for four matches and fined $20,000 by the Titans board today, following his alleged drug incident over the weekend.

The Gold Coast forward met with the board this morning to address the fallout from Friday's ANZAC Test, in which the Kiwi star was allegedly caught on CCTV footage consuming cocaine.

While Proctor was given the opportunity to explain his actions, the board still handed down a number of sanctions, including the four game ban.

Proctor, who has already been banned from this year's World Cup by the NZRL, will also have to pay a $20,000 fine and do 50 hours of community service around drug and alcohol prevention.

The board also agreed to continue his self-imposed suspension as the club's co-captain "until further notice".

CEO Graham Annesley acknowledged that it was a strong stance from the board but said Proctor had let his teammates down as they endeavour to make the NRL's top eight.

"Of course as a football club, our priority is to win as many games as possible," Annesley said.

"But if we all have to suffer some pain in order to drive the message home, then so be it.

"We take our responsibility to the community seriously and we will not walk away from tough decisions just to increase our chances of on-field success."
