Plenty of style in fours title

JAMIE O'Brien, Madi Styles, Jessica Parolin and Lauren Wilson combined perfectly to take out the first title up for grabs at the 2012 Bowls Queensland (BQ) State Junior Championships in Bundaberg at the weekend.

O'Brien, of the Broadbeach club, Styles (Marlin Coast), Parolin (Pine Rivers) and skip Wilson (Tweed Heads) claimed the girls' fours crown with a 19-13 victory in the final at Burnett Bowls Club on Saturday night.

But hometown twins Cassandra and Bolivia Millerick, of the Burnett club, and their teammates April Wilson (Helensvale) and Natasha Jones (Bribie Island) performed brilliantly to be runners-up.

Bundaberg junior development officer Des Kemp is delighted that another two Burnett Bowls Club members will be involved in the boys fours' final on their home greens tonight.

Paul Kajewski (Burnett), Warick Bellert (Gayndah) and Pialba twins Joel and Josh Anderson will meet Rohan Wilson (Helensvale), Kyle Franks (Burnett) and Bridan and Joel Leese (Coolangatta).

The pairs finals will be played today after the post-sectional play last night.

BQ State Match Committee member Ron Somerville said the standard of play had been very high and he encouraged spectators to come and watch the competition which runs through to Thursday.
