ALLOWAY 1 hold an intimidating reputation in the Bundaberg Division 1 netball competition, but the strength of past performances didn't have ATW Gold concerned in the first weekend of finals.
ATW Gold staged an opening-quarter blitz that had Alloway 1 trailing by eight goals, but the reigning premiers recovered to make their way to the grand final with a hard-fought 35-35 win.
Lyn Newport, Alloway 1 coach, has been around netball all her life and she admitted after the first 15 minutes of play she felt sick at the thought of losing for the first time in her time in the game.
Newport said she made some positional changes at the end of the first quarter and from there the players took care of the business.
She praised the way ATW Gold played, saying her team was only able to play to the standard ATW Gold let it because of the pressure and intensity it brought to the game.
Alloway 1 make its way to the grand final on September 12 and its opponent will be ATW Gold or Blazers.
Blazers made the most of having a full squad for the first time this season and ended Brothers Hurricanes' season with a 51-26 win.
On top from the opening whistle Blazers took every chance it had to advance a week deeper into the season and if the 2014 runners-up continue to play the same type of netball ATW Gold and Alloway will be made to work hard as the season closes.
