THE scenes of disaster in the Bundaberg North exclusion zone are "like something out of a make-believe movie", says local man Michael O'Grady.

The Bundaberg Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has provided the "all clear" for volunteers, family and friends to assist home and property owners at North Bundaberg to be involved in a cleanup today after 11am.

Police say it is imperative that home owners and/or occupiers currently on the northside, meet with family and friends to facilitate their entry into the area.

District Disaster Coordinator Superintendent Rowan Bond said that the smooth running of this morning's initial entry into North Bundaberg prompted this decision.
"Home, business and property owners were allowed into the exclusion zone this morning and this proceeded in an extremely orderly way. Now a decision has been made to allow those owners to commence an immediate cleanup," Superintendent Bond said.

Registered volunteers are available to assist homeowners with the cleanup. Volunteers can be sourced by contacting Bundaberg Regional Council's Call Centre on 1300 883 699.

All registered volunteers will be bussed into cleanup areas. People entering the cleanup area should observe required standards of closed-in footwear and appropriate clothing.
