Lavender steals the show at Bargara farm and gift shop
LAVENDER in all forms perfectly describes the next tourist attraction the Nielsen family visited as of the NewsMail's Tourist in Your Town feature series.
Amandine Lavender is a gift shop and farm located on Seaview Rd, Bargara.
The business was established in 2008 as a way to introduce a alternative industry to local couple Kelvin and Helen Griffin's existing sugarcane farm.
When Dad Lee and daughter Renee, 11, Amy, 9, Kayla, 7 and Brooke, 5 went along find out what a lavender farm is all about, they were pleasantly surprised.
"The girls thought the shop smelt lovely and they had a great time trying all the lavender products," he said.
The gift shop also sells a diverse range of popular lavender products including bath gels and moisturisers, aromatherapy products and much more.
Mr Nielsen said the family had enjoyed the visit and found plenty to see despite the flowers being out of season.
"It would have been nice to be there when the lavender was flowering but there was still a lot to see in the gift shop."
Exclusively growing the Lavandula dentata variety, the fresh flowers are sold straight from the farm door in winter and the business makes its own potpourri.
Business owner Mrs Griffin said she also was more than happy to help people grow their own lavender.
"This is really as far north as you can grow lavender so people often struggle," she said.
Amandine Lavender Gift Shop and Farm is located at 288 Seaview Rd, Bargara and opens daily from 10am - 4pm
