Ipswich man to face court after bikie raid

AN IPSWICH man will appear before a Darwin court next month following a criminal bikie taskforce raid on a Chuwar property.

Taskforce Maxima was involved in investigations into a 45-year-old Chuwar man, who is alleged to be the Gold Coast chapter president of the Mongols motorcycle gang.

He and a 34-year-old woman were both charged with possession of a switch blade knife following a search conducted on Thursday.

Detectives also executed a search warrant at the request of Northern Territory Police Gangs Task Force, to locate items relating to a complaint of aggravated assault, alleged to have occurred in Darwin on November 29 last year.

Queensland Police served a summons on the man, on behalf of the Northern Territory Police, to appear before the Darwin Court of Summary Jurisdiction on February 12.

During the search, a number of items linked to the incident, including clothing, were allegedly located.

Taskforce Maxima's Detective Inspector Brendan Smith said detectives worked closely with interstate colleagues.
