AN icy blast is continuing to plunge temperatures in the Garden City to below zero.

It's the fourth consecutive day where the apparent temperature has dipped into the minus figures.

Toowoomba has two main weather stations run by the Bureau of Meteorology, one based in Toowoomba and the other at Wellcamp Airport.

At 2am the Wellcamp station recorded a low of -0.1 degrees but with a bone-chilling apparent temperature of -3 degrees.

The Toowoomba station low was recorded at 6am at just 1.7 degrees with an apparent temperature of -0.2 degrees.

The maximum temperature today is forecast to be 17 degrees.

While the colder weather has settled in, from tomorrow mornings won't be so icy with minimums to sit above 5 degrees and maximums ranging from 18 - 21 over the next week.

The cold snap has been brought on by a dry and cool air mass which is extending across much of the state as a high over southern Australia extends a ridge of high pressure over Queensland.

The high will remain slow moving in the coming days, maintaining cool conditions.
