Hervey Bay will host Intrust Super Cup clash
HERVEY Bay's Stafford Park will host an Intrust Super Cup game.
Sunshine Coast Falcons will bring their round 20 clashed against Northern Pride to the Fraser Coast on July 28.
The two teams will meet in the Hastings Deering Colts and Intrust Super Cup, kicking off at 4pm and 6pm respectively.
Sunshine Coast Falcons CEO Chris Flannery said it was a great opportunity to return to Hervey Bay and showcase the Intrust Super Cup to supporters on the Fraser Coast.
"We will be bringing two quality games to the region this year with our Under 20's in the Hastings Deering Cup playing before our Intrust Super Cup side," he said.
"We would like to thank the QRL, the Northern Pride and the Hervey Bay Seagulls for their support in making this happen."
Seagulls president Bowers praised the Falcons for their commitment to the pathway for Fraser Coast's players.
"This is a testament to the Falcons and their willingness to engage with their wider catchment area," he said.
"We talk about pathways for our players from our Club to the next level and this game will show everyone what standards are required at the Intrust Super Cup level.
"We will be actively promoting the two games and are hopeful of holding local games prior to make a full day of footy. We hope to see great numbers of Fraser Coast people there on the day."
It will be a homecoming of sorts for Pride's under-18s coach and Colts assistant coach Tye Ingebrigtsen, who led Hervey Bay Seagulls to the Bundaberg Rugby League premiership in 2016.
It was the first Seagulls BRL premiership since 2001.
The Intrust Super Cup game will be the first since 2016 when the Falcons faced Ipswich Jets at Stafford Park.
Events councillor Darren Everard said it was exciting to see "these type of event's to held on the Fraser Coast".
Information regarding tickets will be released shortly.
