Goodbye hairy lip, hello male health awareness

AFTER one month of sporting a classic style moustache, Michael Dart was finally able to get rid of his lip foliage which was all in the name of a good cause.

The Bundaberg man took part in Movember, an international campaign to raise money and awareness for men's health.

Michael was part of the Energy Queensland and Ergon team which raised more than $20,000. He raised more than $2100 himself.

He said Movember was a great experience and he would do it again in a heart beat despite his wife having to warm to the idea of his muzzy.

The awareness he helped raise about men's health, particularly male suicide, has been seen around Australia with more than $15M raised since it started in 2003.

The father-of-two said suicide was felt by more and more people and he hoped Movember would help start conversations about mental health and save lives.

"I have already had feedback about a number of men that have told their stories or reached out to services such as Beyond Blue as a result of hearing my message,” he said.

Michael also played the lead role in Evita which luckily needed a moustache which was a bonus.
