Open day at Bundaberg Model Railway Club

GET on track for a real treat because the Bundaberg Model Railway Club is getting set to host an open day.

Club president Chris Pashley said it was a great opportunity for the public to meet the group's members and find out what the organisation was all about.

"It's a chance to show off the layouts and hopefully encourage a few new members to join the club," he said.

"We have about 33 members and they range in ages, with the youngest about 20 years and the oldest past retirement age."

Mr Pashley said the hobby was a great opportunity for people to learn a broad range of skills as they helped develop the layouts - the landscaped scenery on which the miniature trains travel.

"Members learn everything from benchwork and wood skills to wiring and electrical skills," he said,

The open day will run from 9am-3pm on Saturday at the Bundaberg Model Railway's club house, which is at the Bundaberg Showgrounds. Enter via Kensington St.
