OPINION: Amazing rescuers deserve praise for saving diver

THERE would be one diver thanking his lucky stars this morning after being rescued from the ocean off Bundaberg.

He spent nearly five hours floating around in a vast ocean.

The story was a still vague when we went to print last night but you can bet your bottom dollar the man would not be here if it wasn't for the amazing rescue crews we have around Bundy.

The water police, CareFlight and VMR saved his life.

The work these guys do often goes unnoticed - it's just expected they will be there to help.

But services like CareFlight and VMR need our help to be able to continue on doing such an amazing job.

Two weekends ago I went to VMR's fishing classic at Burnett Heads. It was a weekend designed to raise much-needed funds for the organisation.

All those who attended have helped save a life.
