Central Queensland farmers get talks on flood recovery help
FLOOD ravaged farmers in Mundubbera and Gayndah will have a chance to meet Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority representatives next week.
Authority client liaison officer Bill Fletcher will discuss financial assistance available for flood recovery efforts, and provide information on the recently announced Farm Finance package.
Mr Fletcher said he was dedicated to helping the community get back on its feet.
"We'll meet with farmers and small businesses that need help in an ongoing basis, as part of our role," he said. "It's vital that we look after our primary producers."
Mr Fletcher travelled to most parts of the state since summer's disasters and said Gayndah and Mundubbera were among the worst hit.
"It was just devastation everywhere," he said.
He said some farmers were struggling to get back on their feet following the last few wet summers.
"I guess in 2010/11 there was a reasonable recovery but it's a bit tougher this time around that's for sure," he said. "We just finished our (recovery) program for the 2010 and 2011 summer in October last year and we've been hit again."
