Diggers development to be tested against Moore Park tonight

DIGGERS take on one of the benchmark teams in Division 1 football tonight and coach Craig Dewar knows his players' attitudes have to be right if they want to challenge Moore Park.

After a season in Div 2 Dewar's men have handled the tougher competition well and he said from where he thought they would be the players have come out ahead.

"Considering we came from Div 2 and have scrapped together a side each week we are more competitive than I expected," Dewar said.

But there was something he wanted to change: "We had to stop letting easy goals in, if we improve that we will be in the game."

Moore Park sits in second on the Div 1 ladder behind Bingera on goal difference and Dewar knows what faces his players tonight and he said his player's had to be ready from the kick off.

"I am expecting a tough game for us, and depending on how we turn up is how tough it will be for them (Moore Park)," he said.

The game tonight has been rescheduled from March 29 due to wet weather and players have to back up Saturday for the next Div 1 fixture when they play ATW. The other games are Bingera v Moore Park and Alloway v Brothers Aston Villa.
