Coffs Coast set for Country Music Muster

As a long-time country music fan, Jeanette Jones is more than a little excited about the fact the Coffs Coast is set to have its very own music festival.

Thanks to the dedication of Jeanette and a committee of six other country music enthusiasts, The Coffs Coast Country Music Muster has been set down for October.

The inaugural event will be a tribute to former Woolgoolga local, and country music star, Stan Coster.

"Each year we will pay tribute to a different country music legend," Mrs Jones said.

"This year we chose Stan for his local connection.

"We feel he never really got the accolades he deserved. Not many people are aware Slim Dusty performed more than 70 of Stan's songs," she said.

Stan worked for a Woolgoolga butcher before becoming a bush worker in the Wedding Bells Forest.

He paid tribute to this time in his song, 'Wedding Bells Forest'.

Held at the Coffs Harbour Showgrounds over a week, the event will include shows by Graham Rodgers, Dennis Dryden, Laurel Downing, Errol Gray and 8 Ball Aitken.

It will also feature performances by bush poets, bands, square dancers and even showcase some yodelling.

There will be food stalls and plenty of activities for kids throughout the festival.
