IT'S not everyday you get on Facebook to find a shout out from your biggest idol.

But that's exactly what has happened to Sunshine Coast lad Sam Cameron-Hands.

The Pomona boxer got online to find a video of World Champion Danny Green telling him to "never give up".

"I was a bit shocked to see that Danny was there at first," Sam said.

"But when I watched it I was so happy to see someone who knows what the struggles of the sport are giving such good advice."

The video was taken by friend Simon Harder.

Simon said he was at work at Hastings Street restaurant Bistro C when Danny came in for a corporate dinner.

"I know about Sam's boxing dreams so I approached Danny and asked for a shout out.

"He was more than happy, he seamed really interested in Sam's story. Really top bloke," Simon said.

Sam said the video has really motivated him.

In the video, Danny tells Sam to "keep slugging" and never listen to any "dream killers".

"Hey man, keep your hands up and keep slugging and never give up champ and never let anyone tell you that you can't do it 'cos that's the number one that brings everyone down.

"Dream killers - don't listen to any dream killers champ. You got a dream just work hard and never stop giving up.

"Look forward to seeing your name up in lights my man."

Sam is the current Queensland champion and number two in Australia right now.

His goal is to make the boxing team for the youth Commonwealth Games.

"My plans for this year are to win the national title which is on next week which is the qualification event for the youth Commonwealth Games in the Bahamas." Sam said.

The 17-year-old has been training with Impact Boxing Academy in Cooroy since he was nine and in the video, Danny said hopefully Sam will be in his shoes one day "giving a bit of encouragement to another young kid".

"Danny is definitely one of my idols. I met him at the 2014 national titles in Fremantle but that's was only very briefly as everyone wanted to see him," Sam said.
