Chinese new year fun is almost here
THIS Saturday the region will welcome in the Year of the Monkey with celebrations from 3pm to 9pm in Bundaberg's CBD.
Food and market stalls will line Bourbong Street between Maryborough and Barolin Streets and activities that all the family can enjoy will be found in Buss Park.
Moncrieff Entertainment Centre will host an impressive lineup of traditional Chinese performers direct from our sister city Nanning which will complement performances offered by local talent including the PCYC Blazers Lion and Dragon Dancers.
A range of free kids' activities will be on offer including face painting, jianzi Chinese featherball workshops hosted by Bundaberg Regional Galleries, monkey-themed craft activities and storytelling hosted by Bundaberg Regional Libraries and an interactive Chinese animal zodiac trail.
For $5, children can take part in lantern-making workshops and help to illuminate the night as they join in on the lantern parade at 8pm which will also feature large lanterns.
The evening's grand finale will be a fireworks display and with firing points from Buss Park and the main street, it is guaranteed to be a unique fireworks experience.
