UPDATE: Goodwood Rd to stay closed as fireys contain blaze

UPDATE 8PM: GOODWOOD Rd will remain closed tonight as firefighters continue to control the blaze.

The fire burning on Goodwood Rd bear Foleys Rd and Pierson Rd has been contained and the warning has now been downgraded to stay informed. 

People in the area will be affected by smoke which will reduce visibility and air quality. 

QFES are urging people to stay up to date invade conditions change so appropriate action can be taken. 

Properties are not under direct threat at this time.

UPDATE 5PM: A PREPARE to leave warning remains in place at a fire on Goodwood Rd and QFES are warning the conditions could get worse. 

21 crews remain on the scene and paramedics are on stand-by but no patients have been reported.  

The blaze is travelling in a south south southwesterly direction and Goodwood Rd remains closed. 

QFES are working on containment lines trying to contain the fire but have warned firefighter may not be able to protect every property. 

UPDATE 3PM: FIRE crews remain on scene battling a blaze that has closed Goodwood Rd. 

A prepare to leave warning remains in place with the fire burning at Goodwood Rd near Foleys Rd and Pierson Rd at Goodwood. 

The blaze is travelling in a south south-westerly direction.  

Residents in the area should be ready to follow their bushfire survival plan or get ready to leave the area if they don't have one.  

23 crews are working to contain the fire but may not be able to protect every property.

UPDATE 2.15PM: GOODWOOD Rd is closed at Goodwood as a bushfire in the Burrum Coast National Park continues to burn.   

21 fire crews are currently at the scene fighting the blaze. 

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and access Bundaberg via the Bruce Highway or the Isis Highway. 

UPDATE 1PM: QFES has issued a prepare to leave warning for the Goodwood Rd fire. 

The fire is burning in the Burrum Coast National Park - Kinkuna West Section at Goodwood and conditions could get worse. 

As at 12.40pm, a fast-moving fire is located east of Goodwood Rd, near Foleys Rd and Pierson Rd, Goodwood and is travelling in a south, south-westerly direction.

The fire is likely to impact Goodwood Rd, Goodwood.

QFES is urging residents in the area to be ready to follow their bushfire survival plan.  

If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.  

Fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property.  

You should not expect a firefighter at your door.

EARLIER: FIRE crews are responding to a vegetation fire on Goodwood Rd.

The fire is burning on Goodwood Rd and Foleys Rd and west of the rail corridor at Kinkuna.

Smoke may affect residents and motorists in the area.

Residents should close their doors and windows and keep medication close by if suffering from a respiratory condition.

Motorists should use caution and drive to conditions.

Crews also attended a vegetation fire at Eidsvold East last night.

At 5.30pm yesterday the fire broke out near Kerwee Rd.

Crews worked through the night to construct and strengthen containment lines and will continue working to contain the blaze throughout the day.

There is no current threat to property.
