ARIA nominated singer ready to wow Collinsville music lovers
COLLINSVILLE country music lovers are in for a treat as eased coronavirus restrictions have enabled one of Australia's best loved country singer-songwriters to take to the stage.
ARIA nominated Catherine Britt will perform at Bowen River Hotel at the end of the month as part of the return of her 2020 Bush Pubs Tour.
Originally from Newcastle, Britt moved to Nashville at just 17 years old after Elton John heard her sing during one of his Australian tours.
She released her first EP in 2001 and has since toured, performed and recorded with many music greats including Kasey Chambers, Paul Kelly, Sir Elton John, Steve Earle and Dolly Parton.
Her Collinsville show will coincide with the release of her brand new single, I am a Country Song.
Britt said the inspiration for the song came from a conversation with her best friend in Nashville.
"I asked her when we landed in Nashville for our last US tour, 'Have you been listening to the radio? What's new?'," Britt said.
"She simply replied in her Mississippi drawl, 'Oh Honey, I don't need to listen to the radio, I am a country song.'
"It has always stuck with me as such a great idea for a song and I kept it in my list of ideas for years until this album.
"When I sat down with Gareth Hudson, I told him my idea and the song just fell out of us.
"We both knew straight away it was a special song that many country fans can relate to."
Britt will perform at Bowen River Hotel in Collinsville of Friday, August 28, at 7pm as part of the Bottoms on the Grass event.
